Stratford High School ‘BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE’ (BYOD) Programme
We are excited about the introduction of our BYOD programme in 2023. We know that digital technology is a vital tool for an inclusive learning environment, and it offers increased student centred learning opportunities. Our strategic focus as a school is to be responsive to learner needs and to create an environment that is inclusive of all learners. Having one to one access to a device in the classroom for all learners will support our learning focus on agency and engagement and reduce barriers to learning for all ākonga.
BYOD
Students are encouraged to bring a digital device suitable for the purposes of learning to school. It is preferable that students bring a laptop. The use of such devices in the classroom is at the discretion of the teacher.
What do we recommend?
At Stratford High School, we use Microsoft Office 365 as our Learning Management System and medium for digital learning. Our Students have access to Office for free, which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and OneDrive.
Laptops, Chromebooks, or Macbooks are all suitable devices. NB: Tablets (e.g. iPads, Android Tablets) do not always offer the functionality that students need, even with a remote keyboard.
The recommended minimum specification for a laptop is:
- 8GB RAM
- 64GB eMMC or SSD drive
- 11.6″ or larger
The links below will provide you with suitable BYOD devices from various locations.
