Activities Week 2023
Sun Sep 24 10:01amOne of your tasks for the holiday break is to have a read of the 2023 activity week book. Information is attached below.
During the first week of term 4 you will be able to go to a meeting about the activity you wish to participate in.
It is essential that you go to the first meeting advertised as this is where you will be registered for that activity.
If you have any questions, you can ask Mr Franklyn once school has commenced for term 4.
Roodbeen Trophy Nominations & Top Sportsman and Sportswoman

The end of the year is looming very quickly and prizegiving is around the corner. The Roodbeen Trophy is presented to the best all-round senior student who shows dedication and commitment to the general life of the school. The Top Sportsman and Sportswoman trophies are awarded to the students who have shown outstanding performances and contributions at school, local, provincial and/or national level. This award also takes into consideration students who have officiated/coached or managed at any level. Students are asked to nominate themselves to be considered for these awards. To nominate themselves, students are to complete the Microsoft Form that has been sent to their school email address. Staff can also nominate students.
Could you please remind your child to do this by Friday 13th October?

Thu Sep 21 12:17pmApplication forms have been handed out to year 12 students yesterday. If you have missed out, please come to the office to collect one.
We encourage everyone to have a thorough read of the form and consider applying.
Application forms MUST be completed and returned to the office by 9am Monday 9th October. Late applications will not be accepted.

Shared kai tomorrow lunchtime
Wed Sep 13 03:05pmWe are having a shared lunch tomorrow. Everyone is invited to join. Please bring something to share. Food can be left in B6 at the start of the day or bought to the front office at interval. See you all there.

Links were emailed to all Yr 11 and 12 students and parents in August for the online forms that MUST be completed to be considered for either of these career focused opportunities.

Tue Aug 08 02:56pmCourse selections for 2024 have now closed online. There will be an opportunity tomorrow, Wednesday 9th for students who have not yet selected their options. The Deans will be getting these students from their classes and assisting with their choices.

Below is the information regarding our parent teacher interviews on Thursday. School finishes at 12.30pm, the end of period 3. Students are able to go home at this stage but buses will run at the same time as usual, so students need to be back at school at 3.00pm to catch the bus.
Y9 – 13 Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thursday 27th July 1.30 – 6pm
Parents/ Caregivers of students (Y9-13) are invited to make appointments through www.schoolinterviews.co.nz using the code:

Please refer to the list of teacher codes (below) to make an appointment with your child’s subject teachers. Your child’s timetable can be viewed on the KAMAR portal where you will also find the teacher codes. Bookings will close on Wednesday 26th July at 1pm.
Interviews will take place in the hall and this is an excellent opportunity to talk to teachers about your child’s potential option choices for next year. Parents of junior students will also be able to meet their child’s Semester 2 teachers.

Below is a reminder (from an earlier alert) of the details of our Course Selection afternoon tomorrow.
Assembly starts at 1.00pm in the hall. We will be finished by 3.05pm.
Students currently in Year 10, 11 and 12 will shortly be beginning their course selection process for 2024. Here is the link to the 2024 Option Booklets which outlines which courses are available at NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3. I would encourage you to read the booklet carefully and begin discussing possible options at home.
On Wednesday 26th July there will be a course selection information afternoon which parents and whanau are welcome to attend. The afternoon will start at 1pm with an assembly in the hall, followed by an opportunity for students to visit various departments and get advice from teachers and Deans about the options available to them. School will finish at the normal time of 3.05pm. Buses will run as normal.
Options can be selected online as explained in the Options Booklet. The portal will be opened on Wednesday 26th July and choices need to be made by Monday 7th August. If you have any difficulty, please email mail@stratfordhigh.school.nz or phone reception. Students can also see their Dean in the first instance.

Seesaw
Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students.The Seesaw platform is used for homework activities as well as in class work.
Parents are also notified by the class teacher about classroom and school activities and events via the Seesaw platform. Parents can also Seesaw their child’s teacher.
Families only have access to their child’s journal. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’. Families will also be able to see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts.
