Term 2 start

Mon Apr 24 08:29am

Hi all,

A friendly reminder that Term 2 starts this Wednesday, 26th of April at 9.00am. It will be Week One of the timetable, day 3.

Please ensure all uniform is correct and students are prepared for the start of an important term.

Attendance at school will continue to be a priority this term. Our Term One attendance was 85% schoolwide, with every week being above 80%. Can we get this to 90%? Attendance has a significant impact on academic and social progress.

Have a great start to the week.

Strike Action: Wednesday 29th March

Sun Mar 26 12:28pm

Following the one-day strike on Thursday 16th March, the Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA) have been involved in ongoing negotiations with the Ministry of Education. At this point, no agreement has been reached and members have voted to undergo another strike day. This strike action will take place on Wednesday 29th March.

We understand that this is short notice and apologise for any inconvenience. Unfortunately we only received confirmation today (Sunday 26th March) that this strike was going to go ahead. This one-day strike is a nationwide event and will see PPTA members withdrawing from all work related to school for a 24-hour period. Teaching staff will not be available on this day, and we are not able to offer regular teaching and learning within timetabled classes. Due to this, students are asked to stay at home.

However, we can provide supervision for students under the age of 14 who are unable to find alternative arrangements. We do not anticipate high numbers of students but any student under the age of 14 who does come to school is to meet in the hall at 9.00am. Please ensure they have enough work to complete on this day.

If anything changes regarding the situation between now and Wednesday, we will communicate arrangements. Please note that if the PPTA and Ministry of Education are unable to come to an agreement as negotiations continue, there may be further action. What this action looks like will be determined in the near future and we will communicate this accordingly.
