2026 Prizegiving Dates

IMPORTANT: ACTION REQUIRED – NEW SCHOOL PARENT PAYMENT SYSTEM

We are moving to Kindo, our new school parent payment system, which will go live at the beginning of Term 4. To ensure a smooth transition, we ask that all families make the change as soon as possible.

If you currently have an automatic payment set up directly to the school, please cancel it through your bank and use Kindo for all future school payments.

To ensure payments are received and allocated correctly, it is important that you make this change promptly.

What you need to do:

STOP any existing automatic payments to Stratford High School through your bank.
DOWNLOAD the Kindo app or visit the Kindo Website and sign up for free.
USE KINDO for all future school payments.

Any credits currently in the student’s accounts will be transferred over to Kindo after you have set up your Kindo account and we have gone live. Please be patient and allow us time to get all credits transferred over.

Your prompt action will help ensure a smooth transition to our new payment system.

Junior Boys Condor 7s trial

The Junior Boys’ and Junior Girls’ teams have been entered in the Condor 7s National Tournament in Tauranga on 3-4 December.

As we have a large number of Junior Boys interested, a trial will be held this Thursday at 2:00 pm during the elective period.

Students are asked to meet at the main rugby field with their boots and mouthguard, ready to begin at 2:00 pm.

Please note that this trial is only open to Year 9 and Year 10 boys.

Student Achievement Awards 2026 – Nominations Now Open.

Please complete any of the forms below that you believe you are eligible for.

Students should complete ONE nomination form only and include as much information as possible to showcase your achievements and contributions.

Our students will be challenging themselves on the Tough Guy Tough Girl course on Friday afternoon, once the primary school students have been through in the morning.
Bring a change of clothes and a towel… it might get muddy!

Sports. Arts and Cultural Prizegiving 2026

As we move towards the time of year when we celebrate success, we are making a small change to how we recognise our students’ achievements in sport, the arts and culture.

Historically, these awards have been presented as part of our Senior and Junior Prizegivings. However, we believe that students who have excelled in these areas deserve an occasion dedicated specifically to recognising their achievements.

Students receiving an award on the evening will be invited to attend alongside their parents and whānau.

We look forward to coming together to celebrate these outstanding achievements on what will be a very special occasion.

PhotoLife will be at Stratford High School tomorrow Friday 11 September for our Sports, Cultural and other group photos as per the attached schedule.

2027 Leadership Applications

Good afternoon, all,

Year 12 students were given their application forms for leadership positions for 2027 this morning. The application forms are paper copies and must be handed in to the school office by 5.00 pm on Thursday, 17 September. They require both a parent signature and a teacher signature. Late applications will not be accepted.

Students who are away on tournament week this week can collect an application form from the office when they return next week.

This is a tight turnaround, so students will need to start getting organised soon.

The Head Boy and Head Girl will be announced at Senior Prizegiving, and the remaining leadership positions will be communicated by the end of Term 4.

Option selection is now open for all students entering Year 10 in 2027

Kia ora Year 9 students and whānau,

Option selection is now open for all students entering Year 10 in 2027. We encourage students to discuss their options with their whānau before submitting their selections. 
The process is simple:

Read through the Year 10 Options Booklet (access a copy here: https://stratfordhigh.school.nz/option-selection/), paying particular attention to:

– Page 8: Timetable and module structure
– Pages 10 and 11: Option preference planning pages
– Page 14: Link and QR code for the online selection form
– Pages 15 to 31: Subject and module descriptions 

Use pages 10 and 11 to record and discuss preferred options before completing the online form. 

Complete the online Year 10 Options Selection Form using the QR code or link provided in the booklet. Students will be asked to rank their options in order of preference. While every effort is made to place students in their preferred subjects, this cannot always be guaranteed due to timetabling and class size constraints. 

Students who are unable to complete the form online can request a paper copy, which should be returned to the Student Hub once completed. 

All option selections must be submitted by Friday 25 September (the final day of Term 3).

STP Courses at WITT and Gateway Programmes for 2027

Yr 11 and 12 students – Expressions of Interest now open.
Emails have been sent to Yr 11 and 12 students and their parents with information and links to the relevant online expression of interest form for STP courses at WITT and gateway programmes for 2027.
Interested students need to complete and submit the online form before the closing date of Thursday 10th September at 3pm. Thank you.

Term 3 Week 7 – School Closed Monday 31 August – Mid Term Break

Outward Bound Scholarship Available

We have ONE Outward Bound scholarship available for a current Year 11 student.

The scholarship covers the full cost (approximately $6,000) of a 21-day Outward Bound course in Anakiwa in March 2027. Scholarship funds are paid directly to Outward Bound.

To be eligible, students must:
– Be at least 16 years old.
– Be able to arrange and fund their own transport to and from Anakiwa.
– Remain enrolled at school for the rest of this year and preferably the following year.
– Be willing to give back to the school and wider community after completing the programme.
– Be able to pass a medical examination.

Outward Bound is a life-changing opportunity that helps young people develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork skills.

If you believe your son or daughter would be a suitable candidate, please encourage them to submit an application outlining why they should be considered for the scholarship. 

The application link has been emailed to students.
Applications must be submitted to Mrs George by Friday 4 September.

WITT Taster Day – September 23rd

Kia ora Whānau,

WITT is holding a Taster Day on 23 September.
I need to register student interest by 3:05 pm on Wednesday 2nd September. If your son/daughter is considering leaving school at the end of this year and hopes to study at WITT in 2027, please ask them to register their interest with Mrs George before this deadline.

Please note that if I have not received their registration of interest by 3:05 pm on 2nd September, they will not be able to attend the Taster Day.

Important: The WITT Taster Day falls during our practice examination week. If a student has a practice exam scheduled on the day of the Taster Day, the exam will take precedence.

These interviews are intended to provide an opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers and discuss their progress and engagement at school. You may also wish to use this as an opportunity to discuss 2027 option selection with staff.

Influenza A in Our Community and School

Kia ora parents and caregivers,

We are currently seeing a significant number of Influenza A cases within our community and at Stratford High School.

To help reduce the spread of illness and protect the health of our students and staff, please keep your child/children at home if they are feeling unwell or showing flu-like symptoms. Returning to school only when they are well enough helps us maintain a healthy learning environment for everyone.

If your child is absent due to illness, please report their absence using the KAMAR portal. This is the quickest and easiest way for us to record attendance and ensure absences are accounted for.
