Strike Action: Wednesday 29th March

Sun Mar 26 12:28pm

Following the one-day strike on Thursday 16th March, the Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA) have been involved in ongoing negotiations with the Ministry of Education. At this point, no agreement has been reached and members have voted to undergo another strike day. This strike action will take place on Wednesday 29th March.

We understand that this is short notice and apologise for any inconvenience. Unfortunately we only received confirmation today (Sunday 26th March) that this strike was going to go ahead. This one-day strike is a nationwide event and will see PPTA members withdrawing from all work related to school for a 24-hour period. Teaching staff will not be available on this day, and we are not able to offer regular teaching and learning within timetabled classes. Due to this, students are asked to stay at home.

However, we can provide supervision for students under the age of 14 who are unable to find alternative arrangements. We do not anticipate high numbers of students but any student under the age of 14 who does come to school is to meet in the hall at 9.00am. Please ensure they have enough work to complete on this day.

If anything changes regarding the situation between now and Wednesday, we will communicate arrangements. Please note that if the PPTA and Ministry of Education are unable to come to an agreement as negotiations continue, there may be further action. What this action looks like will be determined in the near future and we will communicate this accordingly.

Updated information- School Closure Tuesday 14 February 2023

Mon Feb 13 04:52pm

Taranaki has moved into a Strong Wind Warning – Red.

What does this mean for you?

School will be closed tomorrow Tuesday 14 February 2023, due to the severe weather warning. Safety of students, staff and our school whānau are paramount, which is why we are taking this precautionary measure. All other local schools are following this lead.

As always, follow the guidelines provided by the Civil Defence. Be prepared in your house for loss of power etc.

WITT, Build a House and all other courses will not be going ahead tomorrow.

We will keep you updated regarding Wednesday.

Stay safe!

Bus services TOMORROW

Mon Feb 13 01:13pm

With the change to a Red Wind Warning as of this afternoon, we have been advised by Transit Coachlines that no bus services will be running in Taranaki tomorrow. At this stage, school remains open for all those students who can attend. If the situation changes and we need to close the school due to weather conditions, we will communicate through our app and on Facebook. Obviously tomorrow’s bus services will have an impact on all bus students and we understand if your child is unable to attend school. Please notify the school office if this is the case. All decisions that we make will be based on the health and safety of all students, staff and the community.

BYOD

Fri Feb 10 01:44pm

It has been great to see a number of students bringing devices in to support our BYOD programme. We encourage those who are yet to bring a device into school to do so. This will give broader access to the curriculum and allow greater engagement within our learning environment. For those who are unable to bring a device, we have some available at school. Students can speak to their classroom teachers if they need support getting access to a device.
